April 15 Carbondale Home Team Banquet to Feature Minnesota Coach Jerry Kill


FCA Home Team Banquets are an annual dinners designed to showcase the events, ministries and programs of the Southern Illinois FCA. The banquet featurse nationally-known speakers as well as area student-athletes and coaches.

Coach KillThe 2014 Carbondale banquet will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014 and will feature current University of Minnesota and former Southern Illinois University Head Football Coach Jerry Kill, as well as area coaches, student-athletes and FCA staff and volunteers. The Banquet will be held in the ballrooms of the SIU Student Center.

Home Team Investors (those individuals who give $25 per month to our ministry) get free tickets. Additionally, Home Te Banquet Host are individuals who will able to fill a table of eight with friends, family or colleagues who could, if they were to decide to, become Home Team investors ($300.00 per year or more). Home Team Banquet sponsors who make investments prior to the event not only receive free tickets, but also many extra benefits. Contact our office for more details on being a sponsor.

At the banquet, guests have the opportunity to pledge financial support to the Southern Illinois Fellowship of Christian Athletes, with those individuals pledging $25 per month or more being recognized as Home Team members.

Kill, a member of the SIU Athletics Hall of Fame, was named head coach of the Golden Gophers in December 2010, following two seasons at Northern Illinois. He was head coach at Southern Illinois from 2001 to 2007, and is considered one of the all-time great coaches in Saluki Football History.

He was the first SIU coach to produce four straight winning seasons with the Salukis and is the school's all-time leader in winning percentage. He was inducted to the Saluki Hall of Fame this year.

Kill maintains strong ties to Southern Illinois, where he is a frequent visitor and remains active in several charitable causes including the Coach Kill Cancer Fund and the Southern Illinois Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

The SIFCA Home Team Banquets began in 1993, and have since become a highlight of the organization's year. Annually, FCA brings to Southern Illinois prominent individuals to share their experiences, insight and inspiration with banquet guests.
